A little bit about my background and training.......
I commenced my Counselling training at the Gestalt Centre in London and later moved on to
Psychotherapy training. Whilst Gestalt training, I also took courses in Group Dynamics,
Creative Writing, Spiritual Awareness (Gestalt embraces Buddhist principles), Shame,
Diversity, Family Systems and learning through Awareness of Body Movement.
I trained briefly in Transactional Analysis and I find that my awareness of the "Parent, Adult,
Child" and "Drama Triangle" dynamics are often extremely helpful in understanding how
people relate to each other in different situations, especially at work and in the family.
I later joined the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute where I graduated with a BSc
Honours Degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy through
Coventry University. At the Sherwood Institute I included more Person Centred concepts
which include warmth, respect, and empathic understanding. I also integrated human
development theories; I often recall the words of Saint Ignatius Loyola (1491–1556) who said
“Give me the child until he’s seven, and I have him for life”. I have seen how our early years
may provide the model for our later ones.
I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and
Psychotherapy. I offer both short- and long-term work to adults and adolescents. If in any
doubt, contact me and ask.
I previously worked in the field of Civil Engineering.
